To leverage this momentum, we are looking for a Business Development Manager- North to join our GI team. With a direct reporting line to the National Sales Manager - GI - UK&I, you will own and drive a broad range of responsibilities, with full market ownership in this Northern UK, field-based role.
The purpose of this role is to nurture existing customer relationships while identifying and unlocking new market opportunities by shaping adoption pathways, building stakeholder alignment and creating demand where use of single-use GI solutions is not yet established. You will build and maintain strong partnerships with NHS Trusts, Private Healthcare groups, community diagnostic centres, outpatient clinics and wider stakeholders, strengthening Ambu’s position at both Trust and ICB/ICS level. Engagement will span key clinical and operational areas, including patient care, theatres, ICU, endoscopy services, procurement and service level decision makers as well as those responsible for diagnostic pathways, and waiting list initiatives. Alongside this, you will drive commercial performance through targeted planning and positioning within the GI single-use market, contributing to both profitability and the continued growth of the UK business.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, develop and embed the UK GI Market.
- Execute a strategic business development plan to create and increase adoption of Ambu’s GI solutions in hospital trusts, secondary care setting, community diagnostic centres and all areas that take on additional diagnostic capacity.
- Create and shape demand for Ambu’s GI solutions across emerging care pathways.
- Open new markets and routes to adoption across NHS and independent settings.
- Establish Ambu as the partner of choice in developing new diagnostic capacity and service models.
- Work closely with the NSM for GI UK&I and our wider Marketing, HEMA and Commercial teams to drive growth in Ambu's GI portfolio and associated digital ecosystem across target accounts, through the execution of national strategy and engagement of clinical and non‑clinical stakeholders, in hospitals, ICBs, ICUs and other NHS bodies or Private Groups.
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, driving and developing market access initiatives and sales growth in both traditional and non‑traditional settings.
- Provide insights and feedback on market trends, competitor activity, and potential product development opportunities.
Suggested Candidate Profile
We are looking for a sales or business development professional with a strong track record of collaborating with the NHS, PHGs and commercial parties. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in developing new markets, embedding new technologies, engaging with clinical teams, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) & Systems (ICS), developing patient pathways to support the adoption of innovative medical technologies. Experience in conveying health economic, financial, and clinical benefits to a broad spectrum of senior personnel while demonstrating commercial credibility is highly desirable.
Qualifications And Experience
- Minimum five years’ experience in a secondary MedTech sales, business development or sector preferably within theatre, endoscopy or GI.
- Strong knowledge of the UK healthcare system, procurement pathways including demonstrable experience working with surgeons, hospitals, ICBs, commissioners, department level managers and other senior/C-Suite stakeholders.
- Demonstrable success in introducing new products and concepts into secondary care, community diagnostic centres, or other diagnostic environments.
- Experience in pathway development or change and navigating NHS frameworks to enable the uptake of new technologies.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
