The Customer Service Representative provides exceptional customer service, sells bank products and performs bank transactions. The Customer Service Representative builds mutually beneficial and lasting relationships with new customers by informing, advising and educating customers on Amboy Bank products and services.

Essential Functions

  • Build rapport and foster relationships with customers through information sharing and active listening.
  • Meet customer expectations by accurately assessing needs and providing solutions.
  • Provide timely, efficient and quality service when opening new client accounts.
  • Cross sell products by determining needs and referring customers to appropriate business partners.
  • Assist customers in a courteous and timely fashion.
  • Perform teller responsibilities such as cash handling, processing transactions, daily proof, etc.
  • Provide support and back up to the head teller.
  • Comply with established policies, procedures and operational guidelines.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Willingness to develop a working knowledge of the teller system and capability of researching cash discrepancies.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to other locations/branches and to adapt to schedule changes.

Education and Experience

  • Previous Teller experience.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 years of banking experience (or a combination of advanced degree and experience, two years of which have been as a platform banker).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of banking products and services.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of needs assessment and ability to demonstrate such with existing and new customers.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Good conflict resolution skills (use tact and diplomacy to handle uncomfortable situations).

  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in completion of assignments.
  • Developing constructive and cooperative relationships with others.
  • Use of computers for various applications.
  • Honesty, integrity and ethical behaviour.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time up to 75% of the day when functioning as a teller.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to use hands to grasp, handle or feel.
  • Ability to use computer keyboard and system to enter data and process information.
  • Ability to talk, hear and see.
  • Ability to use telephone to communicate with others.
  • Ability to use office equipment such as teller scanner, personal computer, telephone, mobile device, copier, etc.

  • Moderate sound as in business office with office machines, computers, and people traffic.
  • Open floor work environment.
