A HR / People Advisor job in London within the leisure travel industry, offering a competitive salary and benefits package. This is a generalist HR role supporting managers and employees across three London offices, covering employee relations, HRIS, people strategy and recruitment within a purpose-driven, award-winning business.

Do you thrive in a people-focused role where you are the trusted go-to for managers and employees — advising on everything from day-to-day ER queries to broader people initiatives? Do you enjoy building genuine relationships at all levels, providing clear, pragmatic advice while keeping the employee experience at the heart of every decision? Are you confident navigating the full spectrum of HR — from employment law and absence management to engagement surveys and DEI — and making a real impact in a fast-paced environment? And importantly, do you bring sound judgement, a proactive mindset and a genuine belief that great people practices help brilliant businesses thrive?

Our client is an award-winning luxury tour operator, dedicated to immersing guests in some of the world's most iconic environments. With a clear conservation purpose and a portfolio of respected travel brands, they are driven by the belief that exceptional journeys can connect people with the wild in ways that leave a lasting impression. They are now seeking a HR / People Advisor to join their UK People team — playing a pivotal role in shaping the employee experience, supporting a wide range of people-related matters and helping the organisation build a culture that reflects its values.

In this role, you will act as the day-to-day point of contact for managers and employees across three London offices, advising on people matters, keeping systems and processes running smoothly, and supporting a wide range of HR initiatives:

  • Act as a trusted first point of contact for employee relations queries — probation, performance, conduct and family leave
  • Coach and support managers across the full employee lifecycle
  • Manage absence and long-term sickness cases with a consistent and compliant approach
  • Interpret employment legislation and support the development of policies, procedures and contracts
  • Maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS and support performance and engagement cycles
  • Support benefits administration including private medical insurance and salary sacrifice schemes
  • Facilitate DEI surveys and help develop targeted engagement action plans
  • Support senior and specialist hiring, including job descriptions and candidate experience
  • Contribute to People strategy, L&D rollout and broader organisational effectiveness initiatives

Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in an HR generalist or People Advisor role
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Experience managing employee relations matters — balancing risk, fairness and commercial priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build credibility at all levels
  • High level of EQ
  • Well-organised and able to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive and collaborative with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Demonstrates sound judgement, discretion and integrity when handling sensitive matters
  • CIPD qualification is desirable but not essential — part-qualified or working towards it is welcome

Benefits:

  • Hybrid working — 3 days in the London office, 2 days from home
  • Competitive salary
  • Discretionary annual bonus scheme
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Bupa Private Medical Insurance
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
  • Workplace pension with up to 7% employer contribution
  • Cycle to Work scheme and Electric Vehicle scheme
  • Season ticket loan policy
  • Warm, supportive team culture in a purpose-driven business
