Planning Support Assistant to join a busy Planning Service team on a full-time, temporary 3‑month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised administrator who enjoys working in a fast‑paced office environment and providing excellent customer service.

The Role

As a Planning Support Assistant, you'll provide administrative and systems support to the Planning Service, helping to ensure the smooth processing of planning applications and the efficient running of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support across the Planning Service.
  • Process new planning applications to support Planning Technicians.
  • Operate dedicated computer and communication systems.
  • Assist customers contacting the Planning Service, delivering excellent customer service.
  • Scan and upload documents to the Document Management System, ensuring compliance with GDPR and Data Protection legislation.
  • Carry out a range of general administrative duties.
  • What We’re Looking For
  • Previous administration experience.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A professional and customer‑focused approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexible and adaptable attitude.

Desirable

  • Experience using computerised Town Planning systems such as Uniform (training will be provided).
  • Ability to read maps and plans.
  • Previous experience working within the public sector.
