Value Added Team Leader to lead and develop a team of approximately 18 operators within a busy production environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced supervisor or team leader who is passionate about people management, operational performance, quality, and continuous improvement.
The Role
As Value Added Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the department, ensuring production targets, customer requirements, quality standards, and health and safety expectations are consistently achieved.
The department carries out a range of assembly and manufacturing processes, including milling machine operations, plastic vibration welding, insert installation, and general assembly.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of approximately 18 operators.
- Manage the daily performance and output of the Value Added department.
- Ensure production schedules and customer requirements are consistently met.
- Monitor and improve productivity, quality, efficiency, and cost performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing principles.
- Manage departmental KPIs and implement improvement plans where required.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching sessions, and employee development activities.
- Work closely with Operations, Quality, Planning, and Engineering teams.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve processes, and enhance operational performance.
About You
The successful candidate will have previous supervisory or management experience within a manufacturing, production, logistics, or warehousing environment, with a proven ability to lead and develop a team.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous management or supervisory experience in a relevant operational environment.
- Experience managing and developing teams of 14 or more employees.
- Strong understanding of performance management and KPI delivery.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Experience driving operational improvements and managing change.
- Good working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.
Desirable
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement qualifications.
- IOSH Managing Safely or similar Health & Safety qualification.
- Experience within value-added, assembly, rework, packaging, or customer-specific operations.
