We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Maintenance Operative to work across social housing properties throughout the Midlands. This is not a standard multi-trade role. You will be responsible for attending jobs that involve complaints, failed inspections, or works requiring a higher level of skill and attention to detail. The successful candidate will be trusted to resolve issues to a high standard — first time. When complaint or remedial work is not required, you will take on a senior role within the team, supporting quality control and larger project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out remedial works on previously completed or substandard jobs
  • Resolve tenant complaints professionally and effectively
  • Inspect and sign off completed works to ensure quality standards are met
  • Lead larger maintenance and refurbishment projects when required
  • Complete high-quality bathroom and kitchen installations
  • Undertake mould treatment and preventative works
  • Manage full void property refurbishments
  • Carry out painting and decorating to a high standard
  • Diagnose complex maintenance issues and provide long-term solutions

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a multi-trade or maintenance role
  • Strong skills across multiple trades including carpentry, plumbing, tiling, and decorating
  • Previous experience working within social housing
  • Ability to identify and rectify poor workmanship to a high standard
  • Experience inspecting works or leading projects is desirable
  • Confident working in occupied properties and dealing with tenants
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of jobs
  • Full UK driving licence essential
