The Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy industrial operation in Whittlesey. This is a hands-on engineering position where you will play a key role in maintaining, troubleshooting and improving a range of heavy-duty plant and machinery. You will work across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, using your technical expertise to diagnose faults quickly and deliver safe, effective and lasting solutions. The successful candidate will become a key technical point of contact on site, with responsibility for maintaining plant reliability and supporting continuous improvement.
There are two shift patterns available, both offering Monday-to-Friday working with no weekend shifts.
- Shift Pattern 1 – Double Days
£48,000 per annum
Weekly rotation:
Early: 05:45–14:15
Late: 13:45–22:15 - Shift Pattern 2 – Four-Week Rotation
£55,000 per annum
Week 1: 05:45–14:15 – Monday to Friday
Week 2: 21:45–06:15 – Monday to Friday
Week 3: 21:45–06:15 – Monday to Friday
Week 4: 13:45–22:15 – Monday to Friday
The rotation then repeats.
Key Responsibilities
As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on industrial plant and machinery
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and technical documentation
- Operating and controlling plant systems
- Working across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
- Identifying the root cause of faults and implementing effective long-term solutions
- Supporting plant upgrades, modifications and continuous improvement projects
- Carrying out preventative maintenance to maximise plant availability and reliability
- Responding quickly to breakdowns and minimising production downtime
- Leading and supervising contractors while they are working on site
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety and housekeeping
- Working closely with production and operational teams to ensure the plant runs safely and efficiently
About You
We are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong practical background in industrial maintenance and fault finding. You will ideally have:
- Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- An electrical qualification with practical electrical maintenance experience
- Strong mechanical engineering knowledge
- Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Proven electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
- The ability to read and understand electrical drawings
- A methodical approach to diagnosing faults and solving problems
- Experience working on industrial plant, machinery or heavy-duty equipment
- The confidence to work independently and take ownership of engineering issues
- Good communication skills, particularly when working with contractors and other departments
- An electrical bias would be advantageous, although candidates with a strong mechanical background and good electrical maintenance experience will also be considered.
