Domestic Waste Technician

Peterborough | £27,500 equivalent | 40 hours per week (flexible between 7am–6pm) 12-week temporary contract | Field-based role

Are you hands‑on, enjoy working outdoors and looking for a role where every day is different? I’m recruiting for a Domestic Waste Technician to support safe, compliant waste handling across multiple sites in the Peterborough region. This is a mobile, field‑based role ideal for someone with operational experience, strong problem‑solving skills and a full driving licence.

What you’ll be doing

• Travelling across local sites to oversee domestic waste operations
• Completing site checks, basic troubleshooting and ensuring safe working areas
• Sampling and assessing waste to ensure environmental compliance
• Maintaining excellent health & safety, environmental and quality standards
• Providing friendly support and guidance to customers, tanker drivers and site teams
• Keeping accurate records and reporting any issues promptly

What we’re looking for

• Full UK driving licence (essential)
• Based in or around Peterborough
• Comfortable working outdoors and in operational / industrial environments
• Strong communicator with a proactive, problem‑solving mindset
• Flexible working approach between 7am–6pm
• Experience in waste, environmental services, water treatment, utilities or similar (desirable)
• Knowledge of wastewater, sewage regulations or environmental compliance (bonus)
