If you’re looking for a role where you’re genuinely valued, not just a number, and where you can learn every part of how a small business runs — this could be exactly what you’re looking for. We’re supporting a long-established, family-run business in Tuxford who are looking to welcome someone into their close-knit team on a temp-to-perm basis. This is a rare opportunity to join a company that has been trading successfully for over 50 years, with a strong reputation in their specialist field and long-standing public sector contracts. Many of the team have been there for 10+ years, which says everything about the culture. The business is currently in a transition phase, with the owners preparing for semi-retirement and wanting to gradually step back while ensuring the right person is fully trained and supported.
Over your first 12 months, you will be shown every part of the role — from bookkeeping and purchase ledger through to sales admin, purchasing, and production support — with real progression and handover responsibility on offer. This is very much a personality fit role. It’s a small team, and they are looking for someone who is down-to-earth, hands-on, and not afraid to get stuck in wherever needed. If you prefer a highly corporate environment, this won’t be the right fit — but if you enjoy being part of a team where everyone helps each other, you’ll fit in well.
What your role will involve:
- Supporting both the office and production teams to keep everything running smoothly.
- Inputting purchase invoices onto Sage.
- Checking invoices against purchase orders and price lists.
- Producing despatch notes from customer orders.
- Entering sales orders into the production system.
- Monitoring order progress through the factory and updating relevant teams.
- General filing and day-to-day administrative support.
- Answering incoming telephone calls and dealing with queries.
- Liaising closely with production staff to ensure orders are processed accurately and on time.
What you’ll need to bring:
- You don’t need experience in everything — what matters most is attitude, accuracy, and willingness to learn.
- Strong computer skills (essential).
- Excellent attention to detail, especially with numbers and data.
- Some experience in bookkeeping, accounts admin, order processing, or general office work.
- A flexible, team-focused approach.
- Willingness to learn and get involved across different areas of the business.
