Salary

We're partnering with, a well-established and highly respected specialist contractor operating within the structural steel sector.

With a turnover of approximately £15 million, and an impressive portfolio of projects across the UK, this family ran business has built a reputation for delivering high-quality protective coating solutions on some of the country's most significant commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects.

Due to continued growth and an increasing project pipeline, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of major projects and play a key role in the commercial success of the business.

THE ROLE

This is a genuine senior-level opportunity offering autonomy, responsibility and influence.

Rather than operating within a large QS team, you'll take full commercial ownership of projects from initial tender through to final account, working closely with operational, production and site teams throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the commercial aspects of this project whilst also overseeing additional contracts across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full commercial ownership of projects from order placement through to final account.
  • Managing project budgets, forecasts and cost reporting.
  • Preparing, negotiating and agreeing variations.
  • Managing contractual correspondence and commercial risk.
  • Supporting estimating and tendering activities.
  • Managing subcontractor accounts and payments.
  • Working closely with production and operational teams to maximise profitability.
  • Monitoring project performance and identifying commercial opportunities.
  • Managing delays, claims and extensions of time. Producing commercial reports for senior management.
  • WHAT THEY'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Proven Quantity Surveying experience within construction, engineering, steelwork, specialist contracting or related sectors.
  • Experience managing projects from initial order through to final account. Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
  • Comfortable operating independently and taking ownership of projects.
  • Experience managing variations, claims and commercial negotiations.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Desirable

  • Experience within structural steel, coatings, industrial services or specialist contracting.
  • Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
  • Estimating experience alongside Quantity Surveying responsibilities.
