We’re working with an established and highly regarded manufacturing business to appoint a Shift Engineer at their Leicestershire site.
This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-skilled or electrically biased engineer to join a well-established operation with a strong reputation, a modern manufacturing environment and a clear commitment to continued investment.
The engineering function plays a key role in maintaining operational reliability, driving improvements and supporting the introduction of new equipment and technology across the site.
- Salary: Up to £49,120 per annum, including shift allowance + excellent benefits
- Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off, days & nights | 6am-6pm / 6pm-6am
The Role
As a Shift Engineer, you’ll work as part of a proactive engineering team, providing both reactive and planned maintenance support while identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance and reliability.
Your responsibilities will include
- Responding to breakdowns and carrying out effective fault finding and repairs.
- Completing planned preventative maintenance and identifying opportunities to improve its effectiveness.
- Investigating recurring issues and contributing to root cause analysis.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
- Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new equipment and capital projects.
- Working closely with production and engineering colleagues to minimise downtime.
- Providing clear handovers and sharing knowledge across shifts.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and job information.
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with relevant health, safety, quality and company standards.

About You
We’re looking for an engineer with a strong practical and problem-solving approach. You may be:
- An apprentice-trained Multi-Skilled Engineer, Electrical Engineer or Electrician, or have equivalent hands-on experience.
- Experienced within a manufacturing, production or similarly fast-paced engineering environment.
- Confident fault finding and resolving electrical and/or mechanical issues.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of problems.
- Proactive in identifying improvements rather than simply reacting to faults.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively within a rotating shift environment.
- Safety conscious and committed to maintaining high standards.
- Accurate when completing maintenance records and documentation.
- A strong communicator who works well as part of a wider engineering and production team.
