Our client, a well-established and highly respected food manufacturing business, is seeking an experienced Line Leader to join their Packing team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful organisation with a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and continuous improvement. Due to the rural location of the site, own transport is essential, as public transport options are limited.
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 06:15 β 15:00
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Performance
- Manage a specific packing line area or function to ensure production targets are met.
- Ensure efficient utilisation of labour, machinery, and materials.
- Coordinate raw materials and packaging supplies to prevent production stoppages.
- Reduce waste and support cost-effective production practices.
- Ensure equipment and personnel are prepared and available before shift start-up and changeovers.
- Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and develop team members.
- Monitor and maintain positive staff morale.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet production requirements.
- Encourage a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Quality, Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all production records are completed accurately and on time.
- Promote and maintain high standards of food safety, quality, and hygiene.
- Ensure correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Report issues that may impact production output, quality, or safety.
- Support compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Support operational improvements that deliver measurable business benefits.
- Contribute to a culture of innovation and best practice.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience operating machinery within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Adaptable and flexible to meet changing production demands.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
- Strong attention to detail with good accuracy and numeracy skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good standard of spoken and written English.
- Quality-focused approach to work.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to achieve within 12 months).
- Ambitious, proactive, and driven to identify and implement improvements.
Desirable Requirements
- Food manufacturing or process manufacturing experience.
- Knowledge of quality and compliance systems.
- Understanding of allergen awareness.
- Training in Manual Handling, COSHH, and Risk Assessment.
- Additional Health & Safety qualifications or training.
