The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines to produce high precision components within a busy manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines
- Machining complex components from materials including Aluminium, Alloy Steel, Stainless Steel, Inconel and Titanium
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Changing tooling and setting cutting parameters
- Inspecting components to ensure they meet specification
- Using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, plug gauges, screw plugs and ring gauges
- Working both independently and as part of a skilled engineering team
Candidate Requirements
- Solid experience programming CNC milling machines
- Previous setting and operating experience, ideally with Heidenhain controls
- Experience machining medium to large components
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Confident using engineering measuring equipment
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Ability to work using your own initiative
- Team player with a proactive attitude
Ideal Candidate
- Able to program, set and operate Heidenhain control systems
- Confident writing and editing CNC programs
- Experienced working to tight tolerances
- Experience with medium to large batch production
- Comfortable machining components up to 2 metres in length using lifting equipment
- Completed a CNC machining apprenticeship or able to demonstrate 10+ years’ relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of 3–4 axis CNC machines, cutting speeds and feeds, and geometric tolerances
- Experience working within ISO 9001:2015 environments (desirable)
