We’re working with a growing SME in the Grantham area who are entering an exciting phase of change and investment within their finance function. At present, the business relies on external accountants to produce quarterly financial information. However, they are now in a position to bring monthly management accounts fully in-house, and this hire will play a pivotal role in making that happen. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Management Accountant who wants to build a reporting function from the ground up, develop robust financial processes, and play a key role in shaping how finance supports the wider business. Alongside this, the business is also implementing a new ERP system, meaning you will be closely involved in developing and improving finance processes, reporting structures and data integrity as part of this transition.

The Role

This is a hands-on Management Accountant position reporting directly to the Director. You will take ownership of monthly management accounts and help establish a structured, insightful and commercially focused reporting function. You will also manage and develop a Finance Administration Assistant who supports payroll, credit control and day-to-day finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production and ownership of monthly management accounts
  • Transition reporting from quarterly external accounts to in-house monthly reporting
  • Development of budgeting and forecasting processes from the ground up
  • Cashflow forecasting and monitoring
  • Preparation of KPI dashboards and commercial performance reporting
  • Supporting implementation of a new ERP system (Q4 rollout)
  • Credit control oversight
  • Development and improvement of financial policies and expense processes
  • Detailed financial analysis to support business decision-making
  • Stakeholder reporting and commercial insight for leadership team
  • Supporting projects, investment decisions and business growth initiatives

About You

We are looking for a strong Management Accountant who thrives in a hands-on, evolving SME environment. You will have:

  • Experience in a Management Accountant role
  • Strong month-end and management reporting experience
  • Confident ability in budgeting, forecasting and cashflow
  • Strong Excel and finance system skills
  • Experience working in SMEs or fast-moving environments
  • A proactive, detail-focused and commercially aware mindset
  • Confidence working independently and building processes from scratch

This is a rare opportunity to join the business at a pivotal point of change. You will be instrumental in building the internal finance reporting function, improving financial visibility, and helping shape better decision-making across the organisation. As the finance function develops, there is strong potential for this role to evolve into a more commercial, Finance Business Partner-style position.

Why join this business?

  • Employee-owned company (giving a genuine sense of involvement and long-term stability, plus bonus!)
  • Private health plan covering both employee and partner
  • Local gym membership provided
  • Electric car scheme with free home/workplace charging
  • 3% employer pension contribution
  • Regular bi-monthly social events, creating a strong team culture
