Our client, a well-established and growing recycling company based in Grantham, is looking to recruit an experienced Engineering Team Leader to join their maintenance team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineering professional with strong leadership skills who enjoys motivating a team while ensuring equipment reliability in a fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment.

The Role

As the Engineering Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading the day shift engineering team, ensuring planned preventative maintenance is completed efficiently and supporting the smooth operation of the site. A key part of the role will also involve planning maintenance activities and preparing work for the night shift to ensure maximum operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and support the engineering team on a day-to-day basis.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and support reactive maintenance when required.
  • Allocate workloads and prioritise maintenance activities.
  • Plan and organise engineering work for the night shift to ensure continuity across the 24/7 operation.
  • Complete maintenance records and engineering documentation accurately.
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and increased equipment reliability.
  • Work closely with production and management teams to minimise downtime.

About You

  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory engineering role is essential.
  • Qualified engineer with either an electrical or mechanical background.
  • An electrical bias would be advantageous, although strong mechanically biased engineers are also encouraged to apply.
  • Experience working within manufacturing, recycling, waste management or other heavy industrial environments would be beneficial.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and people management abilities.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
