Quality Manager
Location: Chatteris, Cambridgeshire (PE16) Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Manager to join a busy food manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with a strong background in food safety, quality systems, compliance and team management.
You will take responsibility for maintaining high standards across raw materials, production processes and finished products, while driving continuous improvement throughout the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the site Food Safety Management System (FSMS).
- Oversee and regularly review HACCP systems and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with BRCGS, food safety legislation and customer requirements.
- Lead internal audits and support external and customer audits.
- Manage raw material quality, inspections and supplier-related non-conformances.
- Ensure finished products meet quality, safety and legal requirements.
- Investigate quality issues, non-conformances and out-of-specification products.
- Implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Monitor quality performance and identify trends using data and reporting.
- Maintain accurate quality records and supporting documentation.
- Lead, coach and develop the quality team.
- Manage team performance, objectives, training and rotas.
- Work closely with Production, Procurement and NPD teams.
- Provide technical support on food safety, quality and compliance.
- Support new product development and customer requirements.
- Drive a strong culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have
- Proven experience as a Quality Manager within food manufacturing.
- Strong working knowledge of HACCP and BRCGS.
- Excellent understanding of food safety, quality and legal compliance.
- Experience managing both raw material and finished product quality.
- Knowledge of food labelling and regulatory requirements.
- Experience managing non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Strong audit experience, including internal, customer and third-party audits.
- Excellent data analysis and reporting skills.
- Previous experience leading and developing a quality team.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach.

You will be a confident Quality professional who can operate effectively at both management and shop-floor level.
You will be comfortable challenging standards when required, investigating problems, implementing improvements and working collaboratively with other departments to achieve consistently high levels of food safety and quality.
