The Role
As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for:
- Carrying out routine maintenance, servicing and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles to DVSA standards
- Diagnosing faults and resolving mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues efficiently
- Ensuring vehicles meet all roadworthiness, health and safety, and DVSA requirements
- Completing all required job cards and workshop documentation accurately
- Keeping up to date with product developments and industry legislation
- Participating in ongoing training and development programmes
- Supporting and mentoring apprentices where required
- Working closely with workshop management to ensure efficient vehicle turnaround
Shift Patterns
Shift patterns may vary depending on operational requirements and may include:
- Day shifts
- Early and late rotating shifts
- Night shifts
- 4-day working week patterns
About You
To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3, or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Proven experience diagnosing, repairing and maintaining HGVs and commercial vehicles
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Your own tools (tooling allowance provided)
- A full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A proactive attitude and commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Main dealer experience would be advantageous
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working within a dealership environment
- Experience using electronic vehicle inspection systems such as My Check
