About the Role
We are working with a fast‑growing professional services firm seeking an Assistant Manager (VAT) to join their London‑based tax team. This role offers the opportunity to deliver VAT compliance and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of business clients, while supporting senior colleagues on complex assignments and practice development initiatives. You will gain exposure to both compliance and consultancy projects, working closely with Managers, Directors, and Partners, and contributing to the growth of the VAT practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of VAT clients, delivering both compliance and advisory services.
- Undertake ad‑hoc consultancy work and complex VAT assignments.
- Provide exceptional client service, maintaining regular communication with client teams.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC guidance and internal procedures, meeting departmental KPIs.
- Support senior colleagues in practice development, including marketing and business development activities.
- Attend internal and external seminars to enhance technical knowledge and encourage cross‑referrals.
- Contribute to special projects and advisory work as required.
Candidate Profile
- Significant VAT experience gained in practice or industry.
- Strong technical VAT knowledge, with the ability to handle complex client work.
- Demonstrable experience managing people and supporting team development.
- Strong IT skills and familiarity with tax software.
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) or tax adviser (CTA).
