NFP Audit Manager

For an audit professional with a genuine interest in the not-for-profit sector, this is a rare opportunity to build something meaningful. Our client is a well-established, partner-led accountancy practice with a substantial and highly regarded Not-for-Profit division, acting for a large portfolio of charities and third sector organisations across a broad range of sub-sectors. They are now looking for an experienced Audit Manager to join their close-knit team, manage a varied client portfolio, and help deliver genuinely impactful work for organisations that are making a difference. What you'll be doing:

• Managing a diverse portfolio of charity and not-for-profit clients with annual incomes ranging from £250,000 to £15 million, delivering high-quality audit work tailored to each organisation's structure and purpose.
• Leading audit engagements from initial planning through to final completion, including risk assessments, internal control evaluations, and client reporting.
• Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, offering practical guidance on technical accounting matters, internal controls, and sector-specific best practice.
• Contributing to business development activity, including involvement in tendering for new work and identifying opportunities to deepen relationships with existing clients.
• Mentoring and supervising audit seniors and trainees, helping to build a collaborative team culture and supporting colleagues' professional growth.
• Keeping up to date with regulatory developments and changes in charity accounting and governance, and sharing relevant insight with clients and the wider team.
• Playing an active part in firm-wide initiatives, including training, recruitment, and diversity and inclusion efforts.
• Using systems including MS Teams, Excel, Word, CCH Audit Automation, and CCH Accounts Production to manage workflows and deliver quality outputs.

What we're looking for:

• ACA or ACCA qualified, with a strong exam record and solid experience gained in an audit and accounting practice environment.
• Demonstrable experience auditing charities or not-for-profit organisations, including working knowledge of the Charities SORP.
• A genuine interest in the not-for-profit sector and awareness of current issues affecting it.
• Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, with the confidence and professionalism to build credibility at all levels.
• A commercially aware mindset with a clear understanding of client needs and expectations.
• Self-motivated and quality-focused, with a positive, resilient approach to work.
• Friendly, approachable, and collaborative in style.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with VAT and tax considerations specific to the charities sector.
