A leading professional services firm is looking to appoint a Director to join its growing Credit & Restructuring Tax practice. This is an exciting opportunity to join a market-leading team advising funds, institutional investors, lenders and borrowers on some of the most complex and high-profile transactions in the credit and restructuring market. The team has experienced significant growth in recent years and continues to see increasing demand as market conditions create new opportunities across the lending, distressed debt and restructuring landscape.

The Opportunity: Credit and restructuring transactions sit at the heart of the financial markets, helping to direct capital where it is needed most and supporting businesses through periods of growth, transformation and recovery. Working across both UK and international projects, you will advise clients on a broad range of situations including:

  • Lending and borrowing transactions
  • Debt acquisitions and disposals
  • Distressed and special situations investments
  • Corporate restructurings and recapitalisations
  • Turnaround and refinancing projects
  • Cross-border financing structures
  • Stakeholder negotiations and recovery strategies

The work is highly varied, commercially driven and often bespoke, providing exposure to complex technical challenges alongside significant client interaction.

The Role: As a Director, you will play a key role in leading client engagements, managing a portfolio of strategic relationships and driving the continued growth of the practice. You will work closely with partners and senior stakeholders while collaborating with transaction tax, M&A, real estate and other specialist teams to deliver integrated solutions for clients. Responsibilities will include:

  • Advising clients on a broad range of tax issues arising from credit, restructuring and financing transactions.
  • Leading client engagements from initial structuring discussions through to execution.
  • Managing and developing key client relationships.
  • Working alongside multidisciplinary teams across the UK and internationally.
  • Leading and mentoring high-performing teams within a collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • Supporting business development initiatives and identifying new opportunities for growth.
  • Contributing to thought leadership, market profile and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Playing an active role in talent development and succession planning within the team.

About You: The successful candidate will have a strong technical background combined with excellent commercial awareness and relationship-building skills. You will likely possess:

  • Experience advising on transactions within credit, restructuring, private equity, debt or real estate environments.
  • A strong understanding of UK tax principles and their application to complex transactions.
  • Knowledge of private equity, credit or real estate funds and their investment structures.
  • ACA, CTA, ATT or equivalent qualification, although candidates with relevant legal qualifications and experience will also be considered.
  • A proven ability to manage senior client relationships and develop new business opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical issues in a practical and commercial manner.
  • Strong project leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment.
