I am currently partnering with one of my longstanding, prestigious Law Firm clients to assist with the search for an experienced Lead Senior Legal Cashier to join their finance team on a fixed-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior legal cashier with strong technical expertise and leadership capability to play a key role in overseeing day-to-day cashiering operations within a complex legal environment.

You will be reporting into senior finance leadership, overseeing the smooth operation of both client and office account cashiering functions, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately, efficiently and in line with regulatory requirements. You will also provide guidance and support to cashiering team members, act as an escalation point for complex matters, and help maintain robust controls around client money management.

Key responsibilities:

  • Overseeing daily client and office account cashiering activities
  • Reviewing and approving payments in line with internal controls and authority levels
  • Acting as a subject matter expert on SRA Accounts Rules and legal cashiering best practice
  • Supporting workload allocation and team coordination
  • Monitoring and investigating cashiering exceptions and reconciliations
  • Managing residual client balances and driving timely resolutions
  • Assisting with audits, regulatory reviews and finance projects

Key requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and AML requirements
  • Significant legal cashiering experience within a law firm environment
  • Strong understanding of both client and office account processes
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and banking deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders at all levels
  • Previous experience providing guidance, mentoring or leadership within a cashiering team
  • Proficiency with legal finance systems and Microsoft Excel
