You will play a key role in developing the VAT advisory offering, working closely with senior leadership while managing client relationships and contributing to strategic direction.
You will operate as a senior advisor within a generalist VAT advisory team, with some exposure to compliance. There is scope to develop a sector or technical specialism, such as real estate or financial services, depending on your interests and expertise. You will take responsibility for the full lifecycle of client work, including scoping, delivery, billing, and risk management. The role combines high‑level technical work, business development, and leadership within the wider Indirect Tax practice.
Your responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients on indirect tax matters
- Deliver high‑quality, technically complex VAT advisory work across a diverse client base
- Scope, price, deliver, and bill client engagements in line with firm risk and quality standards
- Develop and grow a portfolio of profitable work through targeted business development
- Build new client and intermediary relationships and identify cross‑service opportunities
- Contribute to proposals and firm‑wide tax projects alongside colleagues across the business
- Provide leadership input into the direction, strategy, and focus of the Indirect Tax practice
You will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating closely with partners and senior colleagues.
What you need
- Substantial experience in VAT advisory work, ideally within professional services
- Strong technical capability, with a genuine interest in complex VAT issues
- Experience advising clients in areas such as financial services, funds, insurance, or similar sectors, preferred
- Proven business development skills and confidence originating new work
- The ability to manage senior client relationships and lead engagements end‑to‑end
This role would suit an existing Associate Director or an experienced Manager ready to progress into a more senior position. You will join a collaborative, inclusive organisation that values individuality, shared success, and long‑term impact. From day one, you will be encouraged to contribute ideas, help shape the practice, and develop your career in a way that aligns with your strengths and ambitions. Hybrid working, structured progression, and a strong focus on wellbeing support a sustainable and rewarding career.
Salary and benefits
- A competitive salary aligned to experience and market benchmarking
- Performance‑based bonus and regular salary reviews
- Hybrid working to support work‑life balance
- A comprehensive benefits and wellbeing package
