My client is seeking a Group Business Manager to partner with senior leadership and drive financial performance, insight and strategic decision-making, sitting in one of the firm's practice groups. You sit directly within the business, working closely with Group Heads and leadership teams, and taking full ownership of financial performance. The role is highly commercial in nature, focused on delivering robust, insight-driven analysis to support both day-to-day decision making and long-term strategic direction. This is a high-impact opportunity where you will work closely with senior stakeholders, providing insight, leadership and direction across financial management, planning and operational delivery. This is a step up from traditional Finance Business Partnering into a more proactive, autonomous role, with full accountability for shaping and leading financial management rather than simply supporting it.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead month-end reporting with clear, value-adding commentary
- Deliver financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Monitor and interpret key metrics including performance trends and KPIs
- Support pricing on bids, tenders and client proposals
- Coordinate budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning processes
- Provide insight to support growth strategies and business initiatives
- Develop financial models to inform hiring and promotion decisions
- Collaborate with HR and leadership on headcount and resource planning
- Support senior recruitment processes, including business case development
- Ensure effective financial and operational processes are in place
- Partner with revenue and credit control teams to optimise working capital
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency
- Contribute to transformation initiatives and business improvement programmes
- Support evolving practices in response to market and organisational change
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
- Line manage and develop a Finance Business Analyst
About you
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Significant experience in finance business partnering in a law firm or wider professional services firm.
- Strong analytical and commercial skills
- Confident communicator with senior stakeholder exposure
