We're supporting a well‑established international law firm as it continues to invest in its Life Sciences & Healthcare (LS&H) practice. As part of an ambitious growth plan, the firm is looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to help shape the sector strategy, build market profile and drive international opportunities.
This is a high‑impact position working closely with senior sector leaders across the UK and Europe. You'll play a central role in developing and delivering sector strategy, strengthening cross‑border collaboration and ensuring the LS&H team is well positioned to capture emerging opportunities. You'll also lead and develop a capable BD team, helping them to work seamlessly with colleagues across other markets and sectors.
Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:
- Lead and support the LS&H BD team, encouraging a joined‑up approach across UK and international offices.
- Work with senior stakeholders to build the sector strategy, set priorities and oversee delivery against agreed objectives.
- Proactively identify and progress new business opportunities, with a particular focus on cross‑border work and high‑value mandates.
- Strengthen the sector's pipeline, working closely with fee‑earners to drive growth in areas such as IP, Corporate/M&A and Venture Capital.
- Develop the sector's external profile, working with marketing and communications teams to raise visibility across key European markets including biotech, pharma and digital health.
- Use market insight to influence sector plans and help teams position their expertise effectively.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop practical, client‑focused propositions aligned to LS&H trends.
You’ll bring experience from a senior BD or marketing role within professional services, ideally with exposure to the life sciences or healthcare sectors. You’ll be confident working with senior stakeholders, comfortable leading through change and able to turn insight into clear commercial action. Strong communication skills, sound judgement and a proactive, growth‑driven mindset are essential.
