I am currently supporting a long‑standing law firm client with the recruitment of an experienced Legal Biller to join their finance team on a fixed‑term contract. This role offers the chance to take ownership of complex, multi‑office billing processes while playing an active part in improving the wider revenue cycle and supporting junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • End‑to‑end billing across multiple international offices, including eBilling, ensuring invoices are accurate and delivered on time.
  • Stakeholder engagement with Partners, Associates and clients to resolve billing queries and ensure alignment with client requirements.
  • Supporting lawyers and secretaries with complex billing matters and promoting best practice.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior billing colleagues, offering coaching and performance feedback.
  • Providing technical guidance and training to other teams when required.
  • Working closely with Finance, Client Services and Legal teams to streamline processes and enhance billing efficiency.
  • Monitoring WIP, identifying issues early and helping the team meet billing targets.
  • Assisting with working capital management, including WIP and billing reporting.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of billing policies, procedures and system improvements.
  • Supporting audits and compliance activity relating to billing and revenue recognition.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement within the billing function.
  • Ensuring compliance with VAT, AML requirements and SRA Accounts Rules.
  • Providing subject‑matter expertise on projects and supporting the Billing Manager with ad‑hoc initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of VAT, AML, and regulatory compliance within a professional services environment.
