A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced Billing Manager to join its London-based finance function, with responsibility for billing operations across the London and one of their European offices. This is a newly created role reflecting significant growth in the billing function over recent years. The successful person will bring strong operational leadership, deep technical billing expertise, and a genuinely hands-on approach to support a growing, mixed-experience billing team.

Reporting & Stakeholders
- Reporting into a Senior Billing Manager based in the US
- Close day-to-day collaboration with the London Finance Manager, who supports on finance and compliance matters
- Full ownership of billing operations and technical billing decisions sits with this role
The Role
This is a hands-on Billing Manager position with significant personal involvement in billing execution. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing day-to-day billing operations for the London and one of their European offices
- Direct line management and development of a 9-person billing team
- Coordinating monthly billing cycles for c.70 partners
- Personally handling billing for a portfolio of partners, including complex and high-profile matters
- Acting as the escalation point for billing queries, issues, and exceptions
- Building strong working relationships with partners and being their trusted billing contact
- Owning technical billing matters, system usage, and best practice across the team
- Driving process improvement and supporting scalability as the function continues to grow
Systems & Skills
- Aderant Expert (Classic) experience is essential
- Advanced Excel skills required due to significant reporting demands
- VBA capability is a strong advantage
- Comfortable working in a highly process-driven, operational environment
Working Pattern
Hybrid working: 3 days in the office, 2 days from home
