What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing a varied portfolio of charity and not-for-profit clients, ranging in annual income from £250,000 to £15 million, and delivering high-quality audit work tailored to each organisation's needs
  • Leading audit engagements from initial planning through to final reporting, including risk assessment and internal control reviews
  • Providing practical guidance on technical accounting matters, governance, and sector-specific issues, acting as a trusted point of contact for clients
  • Supporting business development activity, including involvement in tenders and identifying opportunities to strengthen existing client relationships
  • Supervising, coaching, and mentoring audit seniors and trainees, and contributing to a culture of continuous development
  • Keeping up to date with regulatory and legislative changes affecting the charities sector
  • Contributing to firm-wide initiatives, including training, recruitment, and diversity and inclusion programmes
  • Working with audit and accounts production software alongside standard MS Office tools to manage workloads and deliver quality outputs

What We're Looking For

  • ACA or ACCA qualified or equivalent
  • Proven experience in audit and accounting within a practice environment
  • Solid working knowledge of charity accounting, including the Charities SORP
  • Familiarity with current issues and developments affecting the not-for-profit sector
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to build credibility at all levels
  • Well-organised, self‑motivated, and commercially aware
  • A positive, collaborative approach with a genuine commitment to delivering high-quality work

Beneficial but not essential

  • Understanding of VAT and tax considerations as they apply to charities and not-for-profit organisations
