I’m currently supporting a long‑standing, multi‑partner firm that is looking to hire an Audit & Accounts Manager following a series of internal promotions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants genuine progression, broad client exposure, and support in developing toward Senior Manager and Partner level.
You’ll take ownership of a portfolio of c. £500k, made up of clients across a wide range of sectors—with turnovers up to £500m. The portfolio includes well‑known household names across retail, fintech, manufacturing, financial services and creative industries.
This role will offer you the opportunity to gain the commercial exposure needed to progress toward partnership, including involvement in business development, pitching, and (in time) building your own client base.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and monitor jobs, workflows and resources to ensure delivery within budget and deadlines
- Maintain and develop strong client relationships
- Manage team allocations and contribute to the day‑to‑day running of the department
- Review audit and accounts work for accuracy, quality and compliance
- Coach and develop team members, providing constructive feedback
- Ensure files meet the required standard for Partner review
- Liaise with internal departments to complete assignments efficiently
- Take on ad hoc project work as required
- Manage WIP and billing across your portfolio and update the Partner accordingly
- Provide technical advice to clients and team members
- Lead performance reviews, set objectives and support team development
- Interpret and apply audit and accounting standards (including IFRS exposure where relevant)
- Uphold professional ethics, standards and firm methodology
- Identify opportunities to cross‑sell and up‑sell across services
- Build your own professional network and contribute to marketing and BD initiatives
- Actively participate in pitching for and securing new work
- Contribute to wider firm initiatives
- Act with integrity, confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Experience managing an audit portfolio of £300k+
- Strong background in both audit and accounts
- Exposure to IFRS is beneficial
- Full right to work in the UK
- Strong communication, team leadership and client‑facing skills
- Genuine progression route toward Senior Manager and Partner
- Strong internal infrastructure, training and support
- Autonomy to manage your own portfolio and team
