This global law firm are looking for an ambitious and proactive Assistant Management Accountant to join a busy Finance team in London.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who has started studying towards a professional accounting qualification and is looking to build their career within a dynamic professional services environment.

Working as part of a high-performing Finance team, you will support the preparation of management accounts, financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and business analysis, while gaining exposure to a broad range of finance activities.

Key Responsibilities as the Assistant Management Accountant

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, bad debt provisions, fixed asset accounting, and loan schedules.
  • Review and analyse monthly profit and loss reports, providing commentary and insights.
  • Support accurate coding and processing of purchase invoices and expenses.
  • Produce departmental management account packs and work with budget holders to review expenditure against budget.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Deliver ad hoc financial analysis and reporting for stakeholders and senior finance management.
  • Assist external auditors during the annual audit process.
  • Review and approve monthly payment runs, ensuring accurate coding and appropriate authorisation.
  • Process inter-office recharges and prepare inter-office debit notes where required.
  • Assist with quarterly VAT return preparation.
  • Support the annual budgeting process, attending budget meetings and maintaining financial models and schedules.
  • Prepare monthly and annual statistical returns and surveys.
  • Undertake additional finance-related projects and duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience needed for the

  • Currently studying towards a professional accounting qualification (e. g. ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Approximately two years' experience within finance, ideally in legal, professional services, or audit environments.
  • Experience with Elite 3E or a similar practice management system would be advantageous.
