Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious finance professional looking to build a solid foundation within a truly global law firm. Based in London, you'll join a collaborative and well-structured finance function, supporting accurate financial record-keeping across multiple legal entities. If you're keen to develop your technical accounting skills, grow your knowledge of legal finance, and work towards a professional qualification, this role offers the ideal platform to do exactly that. What You'll Be DoingReporting to the Assistant Accountant and Client Legal Cashier, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Providing cover for the Accounts Payable function during busy periods or absences
  • Assisting with the annual SRA Solicitors Accounts Rules audit
  • Processing accounting journal entries across the firm's multi-entity books
  • Completing monthly and quarterly Office for National Statistics (ONS) returns
  • Assisting in the preparation of VAT returns
  • Processing client account payments and office-to-client transfers under appropriate supervision
  • Completing bank reconciliations for both office and client accounts
  • Supporting accounting system implementations, including user acceptance testing and training
  • Carrying out ad hoc financial and tax analyses as required
  • Calculating and processing quarterly interest on client accounts
  • Supporting the preparation of annual financial statements in line with UK Financial Reporting Standards
  • Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, following up on outstanding items in a timely manner
  • Assisting with the statutory audit process, including collating documentation and liaising with external auditors

What We're Looking For

  • Strong A-levels or equivalent academic background
  • A minimum of one year's experience in a finance or accounts role within a law firm or professional services organisation
  • Confident working with Microsoft Excel and comfortable using generative AI tools in a professional context
  • Good IT literacy across standard finance and business software
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive, positive attitude with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
