Job Description
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious finance professional looking to build a solid foundation within a truly global law firm. Based in London, you'll join a collaborative and well-structured finance function, supporting accurate financial record-keeping across multiple legal entities. If you're keen to develop your technical accounting skills, grow your knowledge of legal finance, and work towards a professional qualification, this role offers the ideal platform to do exactly that. What You'll Be DoingReporting to the Assistant Accountant and Client Legal Cashier, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Providing cover for the Accounts Payable function during busy periods or absences
- Assisting with the annual SRA Solicitors Accounts Rules audit
- Processing accounting journal entries across the firm's multi-entity books
- Completing monthly and quarterly Office for National Statistics (ONS) returns
- Assisting in the preparation of VAT returns
- Processing client account payments and office-to-client transfers under appropriate supervision
- Completing bank reconciliations for both office and client accounts
- Supporting accounting system implementations, including user acceptance testing and training
- Carrying out ad hoc financial and tax analyses as required
- Calculating and processing quarterly interest on client accounts
- Supporting the preparation of annual financial statements in line with UK Financial Reporting Standards
- Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, following up on outstanding items in a timely manner
- Assisting with the statutory audit process, including collating documentation and liaising with external auditors
What We're Looking For
- Strong A-levels or equivalent academic background
- A minimum of one year's experience in a finance or accounts role within a law firm or professional services organisation
- Confident working with Microsoft Excel and comfortable using generative AI tools in a professional context
- Good IT literacy across standard finance and business software
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive, positive attitude with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
