About the role If you have a background in legal accounts and want to bring your skills into a genuinely international setting, this could be an excellent next step.Our client is a well-established global law firm with offices spanning the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia. They are looking for an Accounts Payable Officer to join their Finance Operations team in London on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of 60% in-office attendance. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity to work within a high-quality finance function that plays a central role in the firm's day-to-day financial management across its international network. What you'll be doing Maintaining and developing finance procedures and guidance documentation Assisting with VAT compliance by ensuring invoices and expenses are treated correctly Processing supplier invoices accurately through the firm's finance systems Providing cover for colleagues as needed and taking on ad hoc duties as required Remaining vigilant to fraud risks and adhering to the firm's fraud prevention procedures Handling expense and invoice queries from colleagues across the firm's international offices Preparing and supporting weekly and monthly payment runs, proactively managing any outstanding items Contributing to process improvement initiatives, including system upgrades and testing Reviewing and processing employee expense claims, ensuring they meet internal policy requirements, and following up on non-compliant submissions to obtain clarification or missing documentation Liaising with internal teams to produce reporting that supports the firm's environmental monitoring Supporting audit requests by gathering and providing relevant documentation Monitoring outstanding approvals and issuing weekly reminders to keep processing on track What we're looking for A collaborative, customer-focused approach with the ability to build effective working relationships across the business Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite Good working knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules A high level of accuracy with strong attention to detail Clear, professional communication skills, both written and verbal A solid grasp of UK VAT legislation and how it applies to purchase ledger and cash book transactions A minimum of one year's experience in legal accounts Well-organised, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines under pressure Strong understanding of purchase ledger, cash book and accounts payable processes If this job isn't quite right for you, but you know someone who would be great at this role, why not take advantage of our referral scheme?
