This is an exciting opportunity for a capable Bookkeeper / Management Accountant to join a collaborative and ambitious team. You'll play a key role in supporting a diverse client portfolio, becoming an extension of their finance function and helping them gain meaningful financial insight to support decision-making and growth.
The Role
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing day-to-day bookkeeping for a varied client portfolio using Xero
- Processing invoices and completing bank reconciliations
- Reviewing bookkeeping work prepared by junior team members
- Reconciling control accounts
- Posting payroll journals
- Preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns across a range of VAT schemes
- Preparing and submitting CIS returns
- Acting as a key point of contact for client queries and submissions
- Visiting client sites when required to support bookkeeping activities
- Providing training and support to clients using Xero
- Assisting with ad hoc finance and advisory projects
About You
The successful candidate is likely to have:
- Recent bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice or outsourced finance environment
- Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns and reconciling control accounts
- AAT qualification or strong experience gained in practice
- Xero certification and confidence using cloud accounting software
- Excellent communication skills with a client-focused approach
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Good attention to detail and commercial awareness
- Proficiency in Excel, Outlook and Word
Previous management accounts experience would be advantageous, although training and support can be provided for someone looking to develop in this area.
Experience with Xero reporting, Datamolino, Concur, Expensify or Fathom would be beneficial but is not essential.
