Senior Tax Manager in London

A high profile US law firm client of ours is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to join its finance team. This is a highly visable role with responsibility for managing a broad range of UK and international tax matters, working closely with senior finance leadership, external advisers and stakeholders across the business.

This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of tax compliance, reporting and advisory activities while helping to shape tax governance and best practice across a complex international organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Reporting

• Lead the firm's partnership and corporate tax compliance processes, ensuring all returns are prepared and submitted accurately and on time.
• Manage relationships with external tax advisers and coordinate tax filings across relevant jurisdictions.
• Oversee partner tax reporting requirements, including profit allocations and associated tax disclosures.
• Support tax accounting and reporting requirements arising from changes in accounting standards and regulations.
• Manage tax payment processes and support tax cashflow planning activities.

Indirect & Employment Taxes

• Oversee VAT compliance and reporting, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and best practice.
• Advise on complex VAT matters and support the ongoing development of VAT processes and controls.
• Manage employment tax compliance, including P11D and PSA reporting requirements.
• Provide guidance on global mobility, business traveller and cross-border employment tax matters.

International Tax & Advisory

• Support international tax compliance across the firm's global operations.
• Advise on withholding tax requirements and coordinate with overseas advisers where necessary.
• Manage tax authority enquiries and investigations, ensuring appropriate responses and risk mitigation.
• Assess and communicate tax risks associated with business operations and international activities.
• Provide commercially focused tax advice to finance and business stakeholders on a range of strategic and operational matters.

Tax Governance & Projects

• Help develop and maintain the firm's tax governance framework and tax risk management processes.
• Support finance and business projects by providing tax guidance and ensuring potential tax implications are considered at an early stage.
• Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, controls and efficiencies across the finance function.
• Assist with the implementation of tax-related regulatory and legislative changes.

About You

• Professionally qualified (CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
• Strong experience across UK corporate tax, partnership tax and VAT.
• Experience managing relationships with external advisers and tax authorities.
• Understanding of employment tax and international tax considerations.
• Able to interpret complex tax legislation and provide practical, commercial advice.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to work closely with senior leadership.
• Experience within a professional services, legal or international corporate environment would be advantageous.
