Director, Credit & Restructuring Tax
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced tax professional to join a growing transactions-focused team at Director level, specialising in the credit and restructuring market.
The role offers exposure to a broad mix of complex and high-profile transactions, advising funds, institutional investors, lenders, borrowers and other stakeholders across financing and restructuring situations.
You'll work on varied projects ranging from debt investments and financing transactions through to business restructurings and distressed situations, often involving complex UK and international tax considerations.
The opportunity
This is a senior, client-facing position where you'll take ownership of key relationships and lead tax workstreams on significant transactions.
You'll work closely with senior stakeholders and specialists across different areas of tax and transactions, giving you the opportunity to advise on genuinely complex commercial situations rather than focusing on one narrow area of tax.
Alongside client delivery, you'll play an important role in business development, team growth and developing more junior professionals.
Key responsibilities
- Advising on the tax implications of credit, financing and restructuring transactions
- Leading UK and cross-border tax structuring projects
- Managing a portfolio of senior client relationships and transaction workstreams
- Working with funds, investors, lenders, borrowers and other stakeholders on complex transactions
- Coordinating with wider tax, transaction and specialist teams to deliver joined-up advice
- Translating technically complex tax issues into clear, commercially practical recommendations
- Leading project teams and managing multiple stakeholders across larger engagements
- Identifying opportunities within existing and prospective client relationships
- Playing an active role in business development and the continued growth of the practice
- Coaching, mentoring and supporting the development of junior members of the team
What they're looking for
You'll be an experienced tax professional with strong technical and commercial capabilities and a track record of managing both complex projects and senior client relationships.
Experience or knowledge of areas such as private equity, credit, debt transactions, restructuring or real estate funds would be particularly relevant.
You'll ideally bring:
- Strong UK tax technical knowledge and an understanding of how tax interacts with commercial transactions
- Experience advising on complex transactional or structuring matters
- An understanding of investment funds, financing, credit or restructuring transactions
- ACA, CTA, ATT, legal or equivalent professional qualification/experience
- Strong client relationship management skills
- The ability to explain complex tax issues clearly and commercially
- Experience managing teams and developing junior colleagues
- A track record of contributing to business development
- The confidence to take ownership of projects and operate effectively in fast-moving situations
