Ambitek are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical QA Inspector for work based in Birkenhead. We are looking for a time‑served Mechanical Fitter who has progressed into a quality‑focused role. Candidates must have a strong background in heavy engineering and mechanical assembly. Ideal candidates will have previous shipyard or marine experience; however, applicants from other heavy engineering sectors will also be considered, particularly those experienced working on large machinery, rotating equipment, or heavy mechanical systems.
Duties
- Mechanical inspection and quality assurance activities
- Checking completed mechanical assemblies against drawings and specifications
- Conducting dimensional and visual inspections
- Identifying and reporting defects and non‑conformances
- Working closely with production and engineering teams
- Ensuring all work meets required quality and safety standards
Requirements
- Time‑served Mechanical Fitter apprenticeship
- Previous QA/QC or inspection experience within heavy engineering
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Strong understanding of mechanical assembly processes
- Shipyard experience desirable but not essential
This is a PAYE position only: Basic Pay: £23.12 per hour, Overtime 1: x1.5 – £34.68, Overtime 2: x2 – £44.32.
