Ambitek Recruitment is seeking an experienced Steel Erector to join our client's team in Trafford Park, Manchester. This is an excellent long-term opportunity to work with a reputable civils and mechanical engineering company known for delivering high-quality projects across the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reading and Interpreting Blueprints: Accurately read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and other technical documents to ensure correct installation of steel structures.
- Erecting Steel Structures: Use cranes and other heavy lifting equipment to position, align, and secure steel girders, columns, beams, and other structural components.
- Bolting: Perform bolting tasks to join steel components securely, following precise specifications and safety guidelines.
- Ensuring Structural Integrity: Verify the proper alignment and stability of steel structures, making adjustments as necessary to maintain structural integrity.
- Safety Compliance: Rigorously adhere to all safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), setting up scaffolding, safety nets, and ensuring a safe working environment at heights.
- Problem Solving: Identify and resolve any issues that may arise during the steel erection process, such as misaligned parts or unexpected obstacles.
- Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain tools, machinery, and safety equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Coordination: Work closely with other trades, including crane operators, welders, and site supervisors, to ensure efficient workflow and project completion.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Steel Erector with a strong track record of working on large-scale projects.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Competence in welding and bolting steel components.
- Comfortable working at heights and following strict safety protocols.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently as part of a team.
- Valid CSCS/CCNSG card is required.
- Relevant certifications in steel erection are advantageous.
