The predicted salary is between 13 - 16 £ per hour.

Our client is a large engineering firm who are looking to recruit semi-skilled fitters to join the team. We are looking for candidates with the right attitude, who want to learn and contribute to a team. You must be able to use hand tools and follow operating procedures. This is a safety-critical environment so the necessity to follow standard operating procedures is paramount. This is a long-term temporary position with the potential of a permanent job. Successful candidates will be expected to pass a drugs and alcohol test before starting.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Disassemble parts and components on train wheelsets, following detailed instructions.
  • Operate assembly line tools and equipment as required for the assembly process.
  • Identify and report any issues or defects with components, wheelsets or equipment and assist in resolving problems.
  • Maintain accurate records of the assembly process.
  • Flexible across the department.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Ensure the highest standards of quality control and performance are met during the assembly process.
  • Ensure their work area is kept clean and tidy throughout the shift.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document and report work clearly.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining safety standards and working in a safe environment.
  • Prior experience in mechanical assembly preferred, training to be given for the right candidate.
  • Math’s and English G.C.S.E or equivalent.
  • Must be able to work within a team or on their own.

Hours of Work: Mon-Thursday: 06.00 - 14.00, Fri: 06.00 - 12 noon.
