Our client is a medium sized engineering firm who are looking to recruit a mechanical maintenance engineer to join the team.
Main Purpose: Working as part of a team, you will carry out planned preventative maintenance, along with working on breakdown maintenance. You will be required to diagnose mechanical faults on a range of equipment associated with production and site services and carry out improvements and project work. Follow up with shift report and MX system.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned maintenance activities as scheduled by the maintenance supervisors via MX.
- Attend and repair breakdowns as required and report all actions carried out and any further actions required.
- Report in a comprehensive manner all work activities carried out on a daily/shift basis via shift report and MX / handovers.
- Be proactive in preventing equipment failures and improving overall equipment performance by generating and implementing ideas and modifications.
- Provide a service that meets agreed service levels, including minimising downtime and communicating effectively with relevant personnel.
- Provide a service that meets standards, whilst maintaining housekeeping and personal hygiene standards.
- Maintain and help improve health and safety standards and ensure that staff work in a safe environment by eliminating, minimising and controlling risks to themselves and others.
- Cooperate with contractors and as far as possible, ensure their adherence to site rules, health and safety and standards.
- Undertake training as required to enhance the individual’s skills and knowledge further so that the level of support to the frontline operations remains effective and efficient.
- Support others in the team if required so that they are able to carry out their expected work duties to the required standards.
- Identify performance issues and implement appropriate solutions through the use of problem-solving skills, tools and techniques.
- Must be able to work to agreed deadlines where necessary.
- Must be willing to work under the guidance of departmental and site KPIs to maximise business performance.
Personal Responsibilities Health & Safety:
- To follow all site rules and responsibilities under the company’s Health & Safety at Work Policy.
- To ensure you use all equipment onsite correctly and it is properly maintained.
- Report any safety infringement and ensure any health and safety issues/suggestions are forwarded to the Health and Safety Officer.
- To know the locations of emergency exits and practice correct evacuation procedures.
- Ensure the correct handling procedures for lifting and potentially hazardous products are followed.
- Operatives must be aware of waste separation and recycling requirements.
- To carry out all duties in accordance with the Company’s policy on Health & Safety, wearing protective clothing/equipment supplied at all times.
- To be able to work to work permits and Take 5s.
Shift Maintenance Technician – 5 shift pattern across days and nights – working an average of 33.6 hours per week, paid for 44.83 hours per week. On call requirement built into shift pattern the requirements for those days/nights is to be available between the hours of 7-8 (1 hour window) to take a call out – if not called out the day/night is yours!
