Our client is a medium sized engineering firm looking to recruit a CNC Profile cutting coordinator to join the team.

Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Profile Coordinator to manage the profiling of steel plate materials in support of our fabrication, welding and machining operations. This is a key operational role responsible for steel plate stock control, material traceability, profile nesting optimisation, CNC cutting programme creation and goods in coordination. The role is critical to production efficiency, cost control and quality compliance.

Key responsibilities

  • Steel Plate Stock & Traceability
    • Manage all steel plate stock from receipt through to profiling and issue.
    • Maintain full material traceability from parent plate to cut profile, including certification control.
    • Ensure correct identification, labelling and segregation of materials.
    • Liaise with QA and production to ensure compliance with traceability requirements.
  • Profile Nesting & Material Optimisation
    • Create best‑fit nesting of profiles to minimise waste and maximise material utilisation.
    • Plan cutting layouts considering production priorities, plate availability and future requirements.
    • Make practical judgement calls where nesting software requires manual optimisation.
  • Goods‑In & Stock Location Control
    • Book all incoming steel plate and materials into the system.
    • Verify deliveries against documentation and certification.
    • Allocate and maintain stock and locations to support efficient material flow.

Required experience

  • Experience working in a steel fabrication/structural steel/heavy engineering environment.
  • Proven experience with plate nesting and profile cutting.
  • Experience creating or editing CNC cutting programs.
  • Strong understanding of steel grades, plate materials and cutting processes.
  • High attention to detail, particularly around material traceability and stock accuracy.

Desirable (trainable)

  • Experience with material traceability systems and certification control.
  • Experience with goods‑in, stores or inventory coordination.
  • Experience with nesting software (e.g., Profile Master, ProNest, or similar).

This role combines technical CNC/nesting expertise with material control and coordination responsibilities. Candidates do not need to have all aspects previously but must have strong experience in plate profiling and nesting within an engineering environment.
