Job Description

The tooling technician is responsible for the overall management of the tool stores, including assembling tools, measuring their length and diameter on a tool pre-setter, and issuing them to the machines.

Requirements include:

  • Good knowledge of various machine tooling such as drilling, milling, and boring tools.
  • A neat and organized mind.
  • The ability to work unsupervised.
  • Conscientiousness and responsibility for all aspects of the job.

Key responsibilities:

  • Issuing tool numbers.
  • Measuring tool lengths and diameters on a tool pre-setter.
  • Ensuring tools are stored correctly and maintained in good order.
  • Managing spares for different types of tools.
  • Managing indexable inserts required for the tools.
  • Sending tools for regrinding when necessary.
  • Maintaining an orderly and tidy tool store.
