Job Description
The tooling technician is responsible for the overall management of the tool stores, including assembling tools, measuring their length and diameter on a tool pre-setter, and issuing them to the machines.
Requirements include:
- Good knowledge of various machine tooling such as drilling, milling, and boring tools.
- A neat and organized mind.
- The ability to work unsupervised.
- Conscientiousness and responsibility for all aspects of the job.
Key responsibilities:
- Issuing tool numbers.
- Measuring tool lengths and diameters on a tool pre-setter.
- Ensuring tools are stored correctly and maintained in good order.
- Managing spares for different types of tools.
- Managing indexable inserts required for the tools.
- Sending tools for regrinding when necessary.
- Maintaining an orderly and tidy tool store.
