Role Overview
The Technical Services Manager is responsible for the technical delivery of one or more projects, ensuring coordinated, compliant, and buildable MEP solutions from pre‑construction through commissioning and handover. The role focuses on design management, technical risk, quality, and close collaboration with project, commercial, and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate MEP design and technical activities on allocated projects
- Ensure compliance with Employer’s Requirements, statutory regulations, and industry best practice
- Review specifications, drawings, and design information, identifying risks, gaps, and clashes
- Manage design programmes, RFIs, trackers, and document control using Procore or similar systems
- Support procurement of MEP subcontractors, including technical reviews and bid clarifications
- Provide technical support to construction teams to ensure buildable and coordinated designs
- Identify, manage, and resolve technical, coordination, and statutory risks
- Implement project quality requirements and close out defects and non‑conformances
- Support sustainability targets and certifications where required
- Oversee commissioning activities and ensure delivery of O&M manuals and handover documentation
- Support project close‑out and lessons learned

- Line manage and technically support Assistant Technical Services Managers (where assigned)
- Promote Ambit’s values, quality standards, and collaborative culture
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Background in building services / MEP contracting
- Strong understanding of MEP design coordination and construction delivery
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and industry standards
- Strong communication, coordination, and risk management skills
- Client‑facing experience
- Proficiency in Procore or similar document control systems
Desirable:
- Qualification in building services or engineering
- Progress towards professional qualification or chartership
- Experience in commercial refurbishment or fit‑out projects
Authority
- Day‑to‑day technical authority across assigned projects
- Authority to challenge designs, methods, and subcontractor proposals
