Who are Ambient Support?
Ambient Support, a registered UK charity with over 25 years’ experience in providing care and support services for older people, people with a mental health needs and people with learning disabilities.
Our residential care home, Swan House, is ideally situated in the heart of the community in Winslow, Buckinghamshire. It is an intimate home for Older People providing care and support to 32 residents. We can support a higher level of specific dementia care. This is a welcoming home from home environment.
The role of our Kitchen Assistant:
* To assist in the preparation and serving of all meals to ensure that the catering service is responsive to the needs of those receiving meals.
* To cook meals for the people we support in the absence of the Cook
* To ensure that all machinery, appliances, and equipment are properly used and stored so that their working life is maximised, and the likelihood of breakdown and accidents is minimised.
* To assist in organising the storeroom
* Sorting, storing, and distributing ingredients.
* To clean the kitchen area i.e., floors and cookers and maintaining that food hygiene working practices are followed.
* To understand and actively participate in the Health & Safety and Equality & Diversity Policies and procedures at all times.
* To respect the confidential nature of personal information.
* To use computers on a regular basis.
Skills and attributes of our Kitchen Assistant:
* Understanding the importance of health and hygiene
* Demonstrate an understanding of the nature of the role.
* The ability to pick up detailed instructions quickly and follow them closely.
* Basic Literacy and numeracy skills
* Basic computer keyboard skills and the ability to use computers on a regular basis. Examples of the level required may include the use of the internet and emails.
* Good spoken communication skills in order to relate well to the people we support and staff
