Ambient People is working with a local authority to recruit an interim Debt Manager to lead and oversee the delivery of their debt collection services. This role will be responsible for managing either Sundry or Revenues Debt, ensuring the day-to-day operation of an effective and efficient service.
You'll work closely with the Finance Debt Manager to coordinate activity across the service, manage operational challenges, and drive continuous improvement. A key part of the role will involve building strong relationships with stakeholders across the council to ensure debt is captured accurately and in a timely manner, enabling appropriate recovery action to be taken.
You'll also support on contract management, including the review and re-procurement of debt collection and tracing services, as well as ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice.
The successful candidate will bring strong experience within a local authority debt or revenues environment, alongside a sound understanding of debt recovery processes and relevant legislation. You'll be confident managing complex cases, overseeing team performance, and maintaining high standards of service delivery.
Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to lead a team, respond to audit requirements, and work collaboratively across services to deliver effective outcomes.
