We’re looking for a Business Psychologist to lead our research and development (R&D) efforts and create market-leading assessment solutions that shape the future of talent acquisition and development. Salary: From £60,000
Location: Hybrid (Newbury-based office, minimum 1 day per week)
Contract: Full-time or part-time options available
What you’ll get involved in
As our R&D lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and delivering cutting-edge assessment processes and psychometric tools that evaluate potential at scale. You’ll lead design and implementation, champion equality and inclusion, and ensure our solutions stay ahead of the curve in an AI-driven world.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Researching and developing valid, reliable assessment methods aligned to Amberjack’s Future Potential Model
- Leading the design and implementation of innovative, first-to-market assessments hosted in our proprietary technology
- Ensuring assessments are optimised for AI evolution and resistant to inappropriate AI use
- Piloting and refining new assessment types using real-world data
- Embedding monitoring and continuous improvement processes through advanced data analysis
- Creating developmentally-focused products to help individuals maximise their potential
- Representing Amberjack as a thought leader through articles, blogs, and industry events
Who you need to be
We’re looking for someone with expertise in assessment for selection and/or development, and a passion for innovation. You’ll be confident leading complex projects, influencing stakeholders, and driving measurable impact. You’ll need to have experience of working through, or leading others through, some of the following activities:
- Applying occupational psychology principles to create scalable, digital solutions
- Building assessments using established psychometric design methods (e.g. Item Response Theory, Classic Test Theory)
- Analyzing data using advanced quantitative and qualitative techniques
- Using AI technologies and ethical frameworks in assessment
- Balancing commercial awareness and innovation
