About Amber
Amber is an entirely new way of thinking about buying, banking and selling energy – where home energy technology works to put money back in customers' pockets and accelerate the renewable energy transition. Everything we build is about making that possible and putting traditional retailers in the shade. We believe the cheapest, fastest and most rewarding way to reach 100% renewables is to automate the growing wave of home batteries and EVs. Customers get direct access to the real-time wholesale electricity price and the technology to shift their energy use to the times when cheaper renewables are available. Amber is backed by top Australian and international investors including 1GT, Square Peg, Main Sequence, Innovation Victoria, Commonwealth Bank, NRMA, Gentrick, ETF Partners, and E.ON Next. We’re scaling rapidly and you’d be joining a team of over 240 globally, committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and purpose-driven culture as we transform a major industry. And now we're doing it in the UK.
We license our platform to large energy retailers so they can offer this to their own customers, and our first partner is one of the UK's largest energy retailers. This role sits inside that partnership.
About the role
Amber’s performance marketing success in Australia comes from a two-person performance unit: one performance marketer and one multidisciplinary creative who ideate, ship and test together. Static, video, live, animated, hi-fi, low-fi – whatever the test needs. We've built proprietary AI-assisted production processes that minimise total shoot costs and time to delivery. It's fast, exciting and consistently beats traditionally produced creative on ROAS. We’re now looking for someone in the UK to support our scaling business! You’ll pair your creative muscle with the performance marketing team at our UK partners, with the reach and media budget of a major UK energy retailer and the cycle time of a startup. Your performance partner runs the analysis; you help translate it into ever improving creative work. You’ll get to turn information-dense industry lingo into palatable, compelling content that people love to watch.
What you'll do
- Own the whole process: concept, script, production, edit, delivery.
- Produce and iterate static and video ads for Meta and Google at pace – think 8+ concepts and 30+ total assets per month.
- Use our AI-assisted production workflows alongside traditional production to help with speed of delivery.
- Stay on top of Meta Ad Library and the wider market for angles and formats that are having a moment, working them into your creative process.
- Help the team iterate by digesting the numbers from the performance team (hook rate, hold rate, CTR, CPA, ROAS) and use these to inform your next creative hypotheses.
- Keep your creative pipeline moving: what’s live, what’s in production, what’s next.
- Create a productive and efficient working relationship with our partner's performance marketing team & work within their brand and regulatory approval.
- Challenge weak briefs and convince with evidence rather than opinion.
- Learn the brand, product, UK energy market and regulatory environment, so the ads are accurate and compelling.
- Partner with the creative team in Australia - we share processes, workflows and results to make each other better.
What success looks like.
- 30 days: You’re exploring Amber and the product, alongside our external client team. Some first tests are live.
- 60 days: You’re owning the creative pipeline and the AI workflow is in your hands.
- 90 days: You’re a confident part of the team and our partner's paid spend is being put to good use with demonstrable results.
What We're Looking For
- A portfolio of ads you conceived and made, with what each one did.
- Hands-on across both video and static – you don't need every discipline, but you need more than one.
- Fluent with AI video and image generation, and genuinely interested in where those tools are going.
- Self-sufficient production – idea to live asset with or without a production team behind you.
- Data-literate – you can open Ads Manager, pull a creative report and form a view.
Ways of Working
- Good taste – a sharp instinct for what stops a thumb, and the judgement to know which of your ideas is the good one before the data tells you.
- Shipped over polished – you know the difference between good enough to test and good enough to be proud of.
- Performance over opinion – we back the numbers over anyone's view, including our own.
- Velocity as a system, not a sprint – you build templates, modular assets and workflows so that we can deliver smarter and faster.
- Comfortable with ambiguity – we’re testing a new structure in a new market.
Bonus points if...
- You've worked embedded in a client or partner organisation, not only agency-side.
- You've made work in a regulated category and stayed fast anyway.
- You've adapted creative across markets or audiences.
- You publish or post your own work somewhere and have a point of view about the craft.
You’ll love this role if you...
- Prefer making things over writing briefs.
- Enjoy ideating and testing new concepts.
- Are performance obsessed and care about impact.
- Want to push the craft using the latest tools, techniques and technology, helping to promote renewable energy.
- Are based in the UK (or happy to move here with existing working rights).
- You're comfortable working remotely with occasional in-person work in London.
Benefits
- Competitive salary of £55-70k and share options in Amber.
- Hybrid and flexible working.
- Pension.
- Enhanced gender-neutral parental leave.
- Annual learning and development budget.
- An external Employee Assistance Plan for mental health support.
- An Annual trip to Australia for ‘AmberCon’ meeting our rapidly growing global team of 240+.
Our hiring process
- An initial screening call with our Talent team.
- A conversation with the hiring manager.
- A paid work sample – a real brief with real performance data, 24 hours to turn around a response.
- A creative critique session – we'll review your ads together.
- A final conversation with a member of our leadership team.
We'll be respectful of your time while trying to be thorough in finding the right fit.
