Investment Manager in Milton Keynes

Amber River Premier, a Chartered Wealth Management firm in Marlow and part of the Amber River Group, are looking to appoint an Investment Manager to take responsibility for the firm's investment proposition which includes our own internally managed model portfolios (both discretionary and advisory) and external multi-asset funds. The postholder will lead on investment selection and play a pivotal role as part of the wider Investment Committee.

As the leading authority within Amber River Premier on Investments, you will continually research, use market knowledge and networking skills in effectively managing the investment proposition. This includes ongoing assessment of performance and appraising attribution.

Our Investment Manager will be responsible for the following activities:

• Building and maintaining relationships with external parties, including Fund Managers and meeting with Private Clients of Amber River Premier, plus internal management and development of members of the Investment Management team.
• Ensuring portfolios are managed in accordance with the firm’s investment proposition; constructing and managing investment portfolios and creating/updating these on the firm’s preferred platforms.
• Producing and maintaining the firm’s investment fund buy list.
• Active involvement as a member of the firm’s investment committee, arranging the meetings and preparing pre-meeting information.
• Producing client-facing portfolio updates on at least a quarterly basis.
• Making sure investment decisions made are consistent with the stated objectives and constraints of the portfolio as appropriate.
• Undertaking research to assist the firm with its chosen investment strategy.
• Ensuring trades are placed with third parties in accordance with the firm’s best execution policy.
• Managing the investment team, providing staff training on investment-related topics and the investment proposition.
• Liaison with Fund Managers, product specialists and fund house representatives to get updates and negotiate discounts on charges.
• Arranging/attending regular catch-ups with portfolio Fund Managers/product specialists, and inviting other members of staff as appropriate.
• Partnering with other members of the Amber River Group via quarterly meetings and more informal catch-ups.
• Providing data to our central investment team as and when requested, to allow them to produce the portfolio factsheets, and checking the produced factsheets before publishing to ensure they are correct.
• Producing and maintaining all documentation required to ensure that we meet all of our compliance obligations.

Our ideal applicant will have prior experience within a similar role and a proven track record of success in managing investments. You should be driven and motivated by change combined with good knowledge and understanding of FCA standards and legislation. Clear communication skills are vital to the role along with professional presentation and relationship development skills.

Essential Qualifications:

• CFA Investment Management Certificate (level 4)
• CISI Chartered Wealth Management (level 7)
