Senior Occupational Health Advisor Location: Southampton, with travel to local client sites as required Salary: £50,000 per annum Hours: Full-time, fully in-person Contract: Permanent About the Role We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Occupational Health Advisor to join a growing, close-knit clinical team based in Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Health Advisor who enjoys a varied, hands-on role and building relationships with a diverse range of clients. Working from the head office and visiting client sites as required, you will deliver a comprehensive range of occupational health services, supporting employees and organisations with their health and wellbeing needs. The service works primarily with smaller organisations, typically employing around 400–500 people. This provides an opportunity to develop strong client relationships, gain an understanding of individual workforce needs and deliver a personalised approach to occupational health. With a broad clinical remit and a combination of office-based clinical work and client site visits, no two days will be quite the same. You will manage a varied caseload, carry out workplace assessments and health surveillance, and support the wider nursing team in delivering a high-quality service. Key Responsibilities Manage a varied caseload of management referrals, providing evidence-based advice on employee health, fitness for work, workplace adjustments and return-to-work planning. Conduct Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessments and recommend appropriate workplace adjustments. Deliver statutory health surveillance in line with relevant requirements and client needs. Undertake workplace medicals and a range of occupational health assessments. Administer vaccinations as part of the wider occupational health service. Travel to local client sites to deliver occupational health services across different workplace environments. Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, providing a responsive and professional service tailored to their needs. Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records using occupational health software. Manage competing priorities across a varied clinical workload, working autonomously while collaborating with colleagues. Support the existing occupational health nursing team, sharing knowledge and helping maintain high standards of clinical practice. Contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of a growing occupational health service. Essential Requirements Active NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (Adult). A recognised specialist qualification in Occupational Health. Relevant experience working as an Occupational Health Advisor. Strong IT skills and confidence using computer-based clinical systems. Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small, supportive team. A full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel to local client sites. The Opportunity This role offers the chance to join a friendly, growing clinical team where you can enjoy a broad and varied workload, working with a diverse portfolio of smaller clients rather than focusing on a single organisation or clinical area. You will support clients typically employing around 400–500 members of staff across sectors including aerospace, education, marine, local government and healthcare. This variety offers exposure to different working environments, occupational health challenges and client requirements, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and building long-term client relationships. The position is fully in-person, combining work at the Southampton head office with travel to local client sites. For an experienced Occupational Health Advisor who enjoys hands-on clinical delivery, client interaction and teamwork, this is a rewarding permanent opportunity offering a salary of £50,000 per annum.
