Resident Assistant Job Summary
We operate a 4‑person all‑female supervised residential living facility and a 5‑person all‑male facility that are dedicated to helping our residents live the fullest, most rewarding lives possible.
We offer several levels of care, assist with activities of daily living, healthcare management, and socialization.
The successful candidate will engage with residents in an enriching environment that fosters each resident’s unique level of independence.
- Resident Assistant Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily tasks, including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming and self‑care practices.
- Help with meal preparation.
- Assist with laundry and maintenance of living quarters.
- Schedule medical appointments and arrange transportation.
- Maintain all care records in accordance with company policy.
- Document, report, and review resident progress, needs, medical issues, and behaviors.
- Communicate problems or concerns to house manager as needed.
- Ensure residents take medication as directed.
- Build rapport with residents, showing interest in their lives.
- Accompany residents on community outings.
- Respond to safety or medical issues and document them.
- Lead daily group and individual activities for entertainment.
- Encourage positive behaviors and promote social interaction.
- Resident Assistant Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Food Handlers Permit (or willingness to obtain one) required.
- Current and valid driver’s license and minimum liability insurance required.
- Ability to calm and model appropriate behavior in challenging situations.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working in a residential care facility or with individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness preferred.
- Previous experience caring for children or adults preferred.
Physical Requirements
The employee may stand, sit, walk, use hands, lift and/or move at least 50 pounds, and have normal vision.
The role may involve moderate to loud noise, outdoor weather conditions, and occasional stooping, kneeling or crawling.
