Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) Developer with proven experience in upgrading ELK stack from version 6 to version 8. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in ELK architecture, data ingestion pipelines, dashboard creation, and security hardening, along with the ability to assess and mitigate upgrade-related risks in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and execute the upgrade of the ELK stack from version 6.x to version 8.x, including Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and Beats.
Assess the existing ELK stack implementation, identify breaking changes, deprecated features, and configuration mismatches.
Develop and implement migration strategies, ensuring zero or minimal downtime.
Refactor existing Logstash pipelines and Elasticsearch mappings as per v9 standards.
Update Kibana dashboards to ensure compatibility with version 9 visualizations and features.
Collaborate with DevOps, Infrastructure, and Security teams to ensure compliance and performance optimization.
Perform functional, regression, and performance testing post-upgrade.
Troubleshoot and resolve upgrade issues, leveraging ELK logs and diagnostics.
Document upgrade procedures, rollback plans, and operational guidelines.
Provide knowledge transfer and training to internal stakeholders.

Required Skills and Experience:

5+ years of hands-on experience with ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats).
Proven experience upgrading ELK from version 6.x to version 8.x, including index migration and dashboard compatibility.
Strong knowledge of Elasticsearch architecture, shards, replicas, mappings, ILM (Index Lifecycle Management), and APIs.
Expertise in designing and managing Logstash pipelines, filter plugins, and conditional processing.
Experience working with Kibana visualizations, dashboards, and Canvas.
Familiarity with Elasticsearch Security (formerly X-Pack), including user roles, TLS, and authentication.
Proficient in Linux systems, scripting (Bash/Python), and YAML/JSON configuration.
Experience integrating ELK with external data sources or APM tools (e.g., Filebeat, Metricbeat, OpenTelemetry).
Good understanding of performance tuning, cluster scaling, and resilience.
Experience in Agile environments using tools like Jira, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
