Your Role

Amber Labs is seeking a talented and driven Content Designer to join our multidisciplinary team working on high-impact digital services for government. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of public-facing content and help deliver meaningful change through user-centred design.

What You’ll Do

  • Content Migration & Rewrite: Develop and implement a plan to migrate and rewrite content, while retiring legacy pages.
  • User Research & Testing: Expand research capacity to test draft content, navigation, and forms with diverse users, building on MVP and service design work.
  • Government Page Launch: Prototype and launch the organisation page, ensuring it meets branding, tagging, and accessibility standards.
  • Licensing Discovery: Conduct discovery-lite work to support Day 1 branding updates (logo, naming, references) and produce a roadmap for future redevelopment aligned with government standards.
  • Governance & Training: Create a content governance framework, publishing workflows, and deliver training to empower sustainable publishing practices.
  • SEO & Redirects: Manage redirects and the decommissioning of the website to preserve traffic and user journeys.
  • Pre-Launch Readiness: Deliver a final checklist confirming all MVP content and publishing arrangements are in place for Day 1.
  • Future Planning: Explore additional scope (e.g. holiday pay) to inform a post-launch roadmap.
  • Comms Strategy: Provide recommendations for internal and stakeholder communications to support the launch.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience designing content for central government or similar public sector platforms.
  • Strong understanding of user-centred design principles and accessibility standards.
  • Experience with content migration, governance, and publishing workflows.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines including service design, research, and development.
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Ability to communicate design rationale clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams.
  • A portfolio showcasing user-centred design work in complex environments.
